Here's my setup for peg head profiling. I leave the heel area and thumb stop region flat so the neck can be held in the correct relationship to the sanding drum. I temporarily mount an auxiliary table to my sanding station for the neck to ride on. Band saw the profile to within about 1/8" and then use the largest drum you have and proceed to smaller diameter sanding drums as needed.

Hi Ron,
The cheap ones are probably all about the same. This one's a $90 special from Menard's home improvement store. I did make sure it had a cast iron top, though. I get a lot more use from it than I thought I would. I put it in the "Wouldn't want to do without one now" catagory.

My local Home Depot has one that is a belt sander as well for 199.00.....How did you come up with the auxiliary table..?
