Whether he's playing a maple or a mahogany banjo, it's the same trademark Crowe sound. I love these old photos of JD with the strap over his right shoulder. When did he change over to the left shoulder?

I asked him about that a couple of years ago and he said ".........Long time ago...". He said he was having trouble with pain down his right side and switching to the left shoulder helped a good bit. I estimate about 12 - 15 years ago.
