My other passion

Posted 4/13/2009 5:01:37 AM

This is my glass lampwork studio, it's a gloriously messy place in the basement, where I make pretty things. Everyone should have a happy space in which to forget the world.

Yup, got one of those, full of swords, dragons and crystals, all sorts of magickal bric-a-brac. Post some of your creations if you can Jane. I'd love to see them.

This looks like a fun place, Jane. You'll have to post some photos of the things you make here.
My best,
Kevin

My happy space is, HOME.  When alone, I enjoy my imagination, thinking about the better world that our Creator has promised, and that I do not doubt will come!  When with my wife, my happy space is next to her on the couch, watching tv, knitting, or talking.  (yes, I knit too, sometimes!)  My last happy place?  That would be in my office, door shut, attempting to hone my clawhammer skills.  I get great enjoyment from that, since I can pick it up faster'n 3-finger.  Those are my happy places.  Yes Jane, let's SEE some of your pretty things that you make!

Mine is being next to my Wife, in the study playing my banjo and on the golf course (sorry). But not always in that order. But they all make me happy. Jane I see that their a number of requests to see your goods ( did I actually say that !!!) your lovely glass beads. You may have a few purchases to deal with. Just be happy.

I don't mind purchases John, they fund the next batch. I have a web site and an etsy account but that would be advertising non banjo stuff, so not allowed. I might post some pics, there is one already there.

Enjoy your happy places everyone

I bet you are very talented at this as well. My happy place is when I am with my wife. Does not matter what we are doing as long as we are together. She is a wonderful person and I am lucky to have her in my life.

I've always wanted to try working with glass/glassblowing, that one media I've never worked with. Did make a wax table once though, that had glass tiles in it and a light bulb in the middle, it was a melting piece...I moved into a small apartment last fall, so my happy place keeps moving from room to room, but usually end up at my small kitchen table - built it out of two by fours with a thick glass top, great for project work. My other happy place is playing the banjo in the dining room, and looking out the window at the green tree tops while I play - I call it 'going into the banjo zone' :-)
