Nice quality banjo. I'm not a fan of the black heads though.
It's good to see Deering make all types of weird heads to suit any tastes. Have you ever used anything other than black or white?
I am now a fan of 5star heads and fybre skins.

it's all aesthetic, well mostly. Death Metal banjo! I'd prefer a Nechville black head that has a bit of texture but I actually like the feel of this head when planting. I like to play dirty, so the smooth black is easier to maintain too. My next head will prolly be a Renaissance head like on my openbacks. Wayne (banjonz) seems happy with his ESS setup that way, although my greasy paw prints show up pretty well on the Rens. My ESS came with a 5-star but I didn't much like the texture of that head to finger plant. You gotta love all the tweaks we can do easily to banjos!
