If I change a bridge should I choose a different gauge of strings? Suggestions are welcome.

No, use the same gauge, preferbly even the same strings...that way you can see what the new bridge has done for your tone....

This bridge added some resonance and sustain to my banjo. It also made the action higher. As a result my picks now do not tap on the banjo head and it has encouraged me to hold down strings with more precision. A good choice for my banjo and my playing.
