January 1966, at the Chicago house of Rick Riman, a fine banjo player who showed me a few things banjoistic in the early days. I am playing an early 1960s Gibson flathead that was later stolen at the Fincastle festival in September 1966. It was a traumatic event, to be sure, but the insurance money permitted me to purchase my model 6 Gibson a few months later.
