I think your idea to scan difficult sections of music is great! You have shown people a great way of using the banjo hangout!
(I would also love to know how to do this pull off and I have a few of my difficult areas scanned as well! Yes, I got the idea from you and I hope you do not mind?)

Howdy, I think that this type of open string pull-off is accomplished using a free finger in your left hand to pluck the open string. Not easy to work into your style but very effective sound. Kind of an advanced clawhammer technique. Chris Cairns (FireHeart)
