And I love those extended fingerboards....not that I would ever use them :-) My first banjo was an A.A. Farland with a similar fretboard, I wanted to cut it off to "make it look like everyone elses", thankfully my teacher talked me out of it!

I really like the sound of the Farland's...do you still have it? That's funny about the extended fingerboard, your teacher was wise in his advice! I like the extended fingerboards as well, they have such a great vintage look to them...

Hi there, no I no longer have it,when I was a teenagaer and the folk rock craze hit I traded it for a 12 string, which I later traded for a stratocaster, which I later traded for a surfboard!! Live and learn.

Oh yes, I remember thos days as well...Farlands are hard to find, Bernunzio had 2 for a long time on the site, when I finally got the nerve to bid they were bought sold...one of them still had the original metal head...

Of all your pics, this is my favorite, but it was not an easy decision.

What a beauty and I love the low end the F & C's always have .. If I ever have a banjo made I will ask for wooden diamonds as the motif as a nod to Boston's early makers ..

I use diamonds a lot in my builds, these old saw cut inlays are great. I sold off all of my vintage banjos (over 30) about 5 years ago, this one was one of my favorites, had a thin wire tome ring and sounded really bassy...
