Hi, Mark... The Weymanns had a metal 'truss' attached to the heel, similar to the Stewarts. (unlike the Stewarts, they actually worked.) This banjo has had the truss removed, but I'm sure it's an early Weymann, and is the prettiest and most ornate I've ever seen. Excellent find!!

Hey Mike - Thanks for the comments.... this banjo-mando was put together from an ornate peghead / neck grafted onto a non-original, 10 3/4" pot. It did have a truss rod screwed to the heel plate and dowel, which I removed. I fixed the graft, and am watching to see if the neck is strong enough without the truss rod.
Yep, it's pretty, and sounds pretty good. I'll be sad to see it go, but it's going to someone who will really appreciate it ! !
