wide fretboard and 4th string placed slightly away from the 3rd string making it easier to make that reach that for me causes my finger to slightly touch and muffle the 3rd string.This small change makes fingering much easier. It turns out that this small change makes the neck much easier to play. I plan to build more banjos this way in the future.
