I knew a banjo player in the Elmira NY area many years ago when he got the first Mastertone banjo in the area. Would Carl be related to him? The Kithcart I knew was known as Kit Kithcart

Yes. I think Kit may have been Carl's father.

Yes it was, He passed away very young. In his 40's

I happen to have a somewhat poor recording of Kit playing w/ my dad Hal Casey(fiddle) and others at radio station WNYS in the early 60's. I converted it to mp3 with Audacity but it needs more tweaking. I am willing to email it to anyone who is interested....

I'm very interested. I played fiddle with your dad at the NYS Fiddlers Hall of Fame. He's a great guy. I've listened to him for many years...going all the way back to when there were contests in Old Forge.

Oh thats cool, I must have seen you play at some time or another....he just passed away and I am trying to catalog what little music exists of his on tape etc. Just tonight I think I figured out why the recording came out so bad and will try again. Is there a place to post mp3's on this site?

It is now may of 2016 and i have received the sad news that carl has passed away. He was a wonderful friend and will be missed very much.
