is that a goldtone neck? looks like the gold tone bob Carlin neck. I have a cool old tenor banjo I have been wanting to convert but I can't really aford to have someone make a five string neck for it so I have thought about buying a neck from goldtone but was not sure how to attach the neck since it is dowel stick construction.

It is a Gold Tone Bob Carlin neck. You probably read that this is a tenor conversion. I made a dowel stick for mine. I sometimes think I should have cut off the tenor dowel stick so the "Wurlitzer" plate would be on it. I decided to leave it alone in case it might have life again as a tenor banjo. Getting the angle right is a bit of a trick, but there are a lot of posts on 'Building, Set Up, and Reapir' to read ways to do most things. Richie Dotson's site is really helpful too, I'm really pleased with how mine came out. Good luck.
