My father used to talk about this banjo having an awsome sound. Unfortunatly that banjo got sold many years ago in the 60's. Hard times came to him at that point in his live and he needed the cash. As best I can tell it is a Gibson studio king. Gibson made a few of these banjo"s back then and it is hard to tell but it seems to be a king. My father has now passed on and all I have left of that banjo is a small 2" x4" picture. Before passing on he did tell me it was definetly a Gibson.He used to work for a radio station as a young man in his twenties as a on air musician back in the fourties and that was his axe.

I know this is an old post, but I dure wish I had more time with my dad before he passed away as I have a lot of unanswered question's about his original PW RB5. I am trying to document all I can on it before it is my time to move on. Love the old photos.

My dad and I had a very unique and special bond . Not only was he my dad but he was also my best friend and we both worked together in his business which today I still own and I now work with my new best friend my son . There is not one day that goes by without thinking of my dad and the wonderful times we had together. My dad was always whistling or singing a tune while he worked and it was quite infectious as I catch myself doing the same . We both shared the love of banjo music . Playing as an on air musician is how he was able to make money for his family after loosing his father of 41 years old at the tender age of 13. I guess the pain of that loss sometimes makes me wonder if that is why he was such a great dad as he seemed to live his life with his own wife and children cherishing every moment as though they were his last.
