Grampa had 2 sons.
One died of medical complications.
When ww2 broke out, and married men were being drafted, Grampa didn't want to risk his only son, so he told dad to get his @ss over to the place where they were making cannons, and tell them he was trained as a machinist in high school shop class.
UNTIL that day, Dad had been working for Grampa, for damn near NOTHING, because Grampa claimed he couldn't FIND another bartender.
The day AFTER Dad got the job, ala-kazam! Another bartender magically appeared, but had to be paid a better wage.
