The COUNTY was celebrating its centennial, or some such, and the men were encouraged to grow a beard. This was back when most men in THIS part of Wisconsin did NOT have beards. Anyway, I think it makes him look even handsomer. Mom said she didn't like to have to wade through all that shrubbery, just to get a kiss.
