Hi Robert, my name is Tim Harkleroad. I grew up in Bristol and knew Jack BRanch, also knew Jackie and Steve his sons. Nice to see one of his instruments on here. I play banjo in Pigeon Forge at the Hatfield and McCoy show. My grandmother was a Ballard. Take care.

Hi Tim, nice to receive your nice note. Lordy, we might be kinfolk! We met Jack and Nannie via a friend who taught a shaped note singing school at our church and had invited us to spend the weekend in their home in Blountsville. He took us to the Friday nigt jam at the historical site and My son and I joined one of the informal jams downstairs where Jack was playing with some others. The next day our friend drove us to Jacks home and we became fast friends. Over the years we met all of Jacks kids and granchildren. We sang at his memorial and Derrick Deacons played a couple of tunes. my Ballard roots are in Virginia. Thomas and Usley Stone Ballard. They migrated to NC but most of the genealogy is sparse. Thanks for the note. I am new to BH. Happy New Year!!!
