Ralph Roberts on July 4th with the banjo I took to him. The banjo is a very nice old neck I restored and put onto an 11" maple block rim a few years ago. The tone ring is 1/4" rolled brass hoop sitting on 1/4" X 2" posts installed into the rim which raise the hoop 1/4" off the rim. I have used this type tone ring setup on several banjos and it produces a responsive banjo with a nice warm tone.
