Sandra, I am 74 much older than you at 58; but I only started banjo in 2002. Working on the clawhammer as explained by Dwight Diller, still not very good I am afraid. I am also a John Hartford fan, Old Time Riverman, one of my favorites.

Hi Sandra, I too go to Sacrewell, perhaps we have passed like ships in the night. I started banjo approx. 2002 first with B.grass but could never get the speed up. Now taken up Seeger up-picking and seemed to have found my 'Style' I am in my late sixties but still find banjo the most wonderful of sounds. Perhaps we will cross paths at 2007 festivals. Just love Wildwood Flower.
