As long as the strings clear the tension hoop at the neck notch, I'd recommend giving it some time. The hide will continue to stretch. It is better for the tension hoop to sit up high at first. It should pull down lower over time. I like for the tension hoop to eventually settle about 1/8" proud of the top of the head.
