What kind of wood is the fretboard made of ash?

In the picture is the original 4-string tenor neck. The fretboard is some kind of plastic. Pearloid or something. Robin Smith in Nashville has it right now and is making me a radiused Mahogany 5-string neck with an Ebony fretboard. He is creating mother of pearl inlays to match the original stencil neck markers. I have not laid hands on her yet and the wait is killing me. Wish I could take a 2 month nap and wake up and there she is!

I wish! I may take a 10 hour ride when it's done...
