This plate allows me to go from a fretted banjo to a fretless banjo and back to fretted in just a few minutes. I wrote up a "how to" with details and photos, if interested, just send me a PM.

This is great idea is very cool! I have a Buckbee/Dobson style with a similar style inlay on the tuning head.

Yes that is very similar. My banjo has a engraved metal plate as a heelcap with the Cammeyer logo and a few other details. Cammeyer was more noted as a composer and maker of Zither banjos than open back 5 strings. I have only seen one other 5 string Cammeyer in the last 40 years.
