Nice addition for your collection John. What percentage humidity to you try maintain? Do you tend to use the cabinet most during the winter months? From the photo it would appear you simply add a small container water sitting inside the cabinet and then keep an eye on the hygrometer?

Tom - I splurged and bought a small guitar cabinet from American Musical Furniture. It has a "habitat monitor" automated humidification system with digital humidistat control. I have it set to maintain 50%. In our gas-heated house, the RH sometimes falls below 20%. I had some issues with wooden instruments last season and decided to go this route. I know there are less costly solutions. But I love having my guitars close at hand and visible in my office - and well-protected. So I spent some banjo-head money on a luxury. I added the analog hygrometer because I like the look of it - and the small digital display is hard to see. This old hygrometer can be calibrated - so I let it acclimate in the cabinet overnight then set it to match the digital reading. So for the two are holding the same reading...

I am envious! Susan and I must schedule another trip to Nashville ASAP so I can inspect the case in person and play all of its residents! Sheila is a nice person for authorizing the acquisition of such a fine case!
