Jane, I've owned a trumpet and a concert flute for years, but the banjo always comes out tops,if you enjoy other instruments then good on you...just enjoy 'em.

We have a sax player as part of our Cajun band. She plays some innovative breaks on it too.

I always found alto easier to play than tenor - less wind, though I love them both. Jane, you are a bit of a rebel but I for one will be egging you on!

I find trumpet quite manageable, but woodwind has soul.
