THis looks like a J.B. SCHALL (c.1900) .A high end maker in Chicago .. Have a look at the ones on Bill's banjo site ... billsbanjos.com/ All the best , Guy

Thanks so much for the ID, Guy. Any idea what something that age and era might fetch? It doesn't look like one of Schall's fancier models. I've read that Schall would sometimes abandon his banjo factory and workers for months while he went on benders, and the quality of the instruments would fall off absent his supervision. The lack of much inlay on this model might point to one of his more modest products.
