Tell me, sir, please...
What do you think of your Honey Grove? There is very little in the way of reviews about this banjo. And I see that you have a fine collection of open backs. So, if you please, what are your thoughts on this banjo and how it stacks up to your others.
Thanks and cheers.

Hi Paco.
I will say that I love my Honey Grove, and it is probably the banjo I play the most right now. As you may know, these days Chuck Lee mainly makes custom banjos. They are very beautiful, lots of intricate inlay work, lots of decoration, and they sound amazing. However, they are very expensive. With the Honey Grove series, Chuck set out to make a banjo with fewer decorations (less fancy to look at ) but with the same amazing sound, just more affordable/less expensive. If you want a banjo that looks fancy with a lot of decorations and inlay work, the Honey Grove is not for you. If you want a banjo that looks simple (I think it is beautiful because it looks so simple), but which sounds great, the Honey Grove is an amazing banjo if you can find one. The one I have has a wooden tone ring. I personally like the sound of the wood tone ring. Combined with the 12inch pot, the wood tone ring really brings out the bass notes. It gives it a very plunky sound, although the higher notes are not as bright as they might be with a metal tone ring. This is fine for me, as that is the sound that I personally like from a banjo. However, he did make some with a rolled brass tone ring or a dobson style tone ring. I don't know how easy it will be to find one these days, but if you can find one, they are great. I got mine from Zepp Country Music. The only other thing I can say about mine is that the action is a little lower than my other banjos. However, the action can be easily adjusted. Actually I don't know if all the Honey Groves have low action or if mine was just adjusted to be low before I bought it. If you have any other questions or need any specific information, please let me know. I would be glad to answer your questions if I am able. Also, if you search for Chuck Lee Honey Grove banjo, I believe Mr. Zepp has some clips on his Youtube channel, so you can hear how they sound.
