I actually used JB Weld, a 2-part epoxy which dries dark gray, BUT, since it's MY bass, I put a layer of clear glue (instead of varnish) over the finished repair, then stuck on a Band-Aid, and another coat of clear glue to keep the band-aid from wearing off.

Well, if I ever break the neck of my bass banjo, I'll bring it back to you for repair. (Can I have a Band-Aid with Smurfs on it?)
