With the striations in the quarter-sawn grain pattern , don't think e.i.rose but Amazon, Dalbergia sprucena, this is just from photos so difficulty is there. mm chez tymburrs

thanks for pointing that out....I just looked up Dalbergia nigra, Dalbergia spruceana, & I guess the term "Brazilian" must be loosely applied to both species since they both are from the same region.....funny the way the camera illuminates the color of the wood, because in reality it appears much darker
