Thanks Bongshang - that was taken by a newspaper photographer while I was jamming down at the Bay Area Bluegrass Association (In League City, Tx) a while back.

What kind of picks are those with 2 rows of holed bands?
Do you like them?
Why are the tips so far beyond the ends of your fingers?
Please don't be upset at my questioning.
I am a newbie, so trying to get some pointers.
Thanks!

Dave - yes I love those picks. Those picks are 'Showcase 1941' picks - you can google 'Showcase 1941' and read about them. The tips extending are just my personal way to fit the picks - some folks bend them, some folks slide them further down on the fingers - most folks will say just fit them to your personal taste and feel to get the feel and the sound you want from your playing. When you bend the picks - do it very, very gently until you get the feel and sound you want. Welcome to Banjo Hangout and the world of Banjo. Ask, ask, ask..... the only dumb questions are the ones that don't get asked. If I can be of help let me know. Phil

Excuse me - i erred - I do love the 'Showcase 1941' ... but the ones in the avatar are ProPik .....same love, same Google, same bending, same wear, etc. Actually - I now use one ProPic (index finger), one Showcase 1941 (middle finger) and the thumb pick I use is called BlueChip. The BlueChip is wonderful but I should warn you it is a little pricey ($40.00 when I purchased). Nice thing about BlueChip thumb picks - they don't wear out. Phil
