Old school or rather the" founder of the school " meets new school. Earl's innovations set the standard for virtually every player who came after him. The single most influential artist for any single instrument in history. John helped pioneer new grass and used tunings and fingerings that took the banjo into new directions as a solo performer's instrument. John's "ghost note" idea was sublime and makes such perfect sense. Folks will be talking about these two fellows for generations to come.
