Love the bandola. A few years ago, I went to Venezuela for a friend's wedding and fell in love with the Venezuelan music, specifically the music of the Llanero. Where did you get yours?

I got mine from a maker in a small town in Los Llanos. I take Skype lessons from my friend Oliver Diaz, El Duque Del Llano, who you can see on Youtube.
This is the best page to download musicxa Llanera: llanomusical.blogspot.com/

Thanks for the recommendation.
I currently have a baritone uke strung up and tuned like a cuatro, but I haven't made much progress figuring out how to play it (a simple joropo strumming pattern that I found in the back of song collection when I was there). I have been thinking about restringing and tuning it like a bandola, but again, I don't have much of a clue.
I've watched lots of videos of Llanera music, but I have never never watched any of your instructor. Wow. How are the lessons? Do they cost much? Do you speak Spanish? Does your teacher speak English? Is it necessary?

If you look, there are Cuatro instructionals all over youtube, and they're very good.
Oliver doesn't really do paid lessons; we just chat, and then he shows me things.
He's a full time student and he has a lot of family responsibilities.
It is worth is to inquire from the more 'citified' players that post their own videos,
as they're generally dying for outside contact, and very generous with their time.
