Beauty.
I'd recommend a hide head with nylon or Nylagut strings, unless you have extreme humidity issues; that what I put on mine.

I'm definately on board with the nylgut strings, though I'm leaning toward a Ren head at present.

Ren is a decent substitute. I have one on my "eBanjo", a banjo I assembled from parts bought on eBay. You may already know this, but the printed logo can be removed with acetone.

I have read that acetone can work this magic, but I haven't tried it yet. Like the idea of a head w/out a logo.

Mike Ramsey himself performed this magic on my banjo. It did improve the way it looked. When I asked him if it was safe, he just kind of winked at me. That was 3 or 4 years ago, and the head is fine.

Four years later and I opted for a goatskin head- sounds great, should have listened to reason the first time around :)
