This is in the Garfagnana part of Tuscany, Italy. It's called Ponte del Diavolo or Ponte della Maddalena. There's a story about it slightly reminiscent of the song "The Devil Went Down to Georgia," where the builder made an agreement with the devil about finishing it. The builder had to give the devil the first soul who walked across the finished bridge and when it was done made sure it was a dog, not a person. You can still walk across it, but to find it, you have to go slightly off the beaten track.

Poor dog :) It just looks 'right' for some reason.

It's an amazing photo my husband took by standing on a train track. There's other bridges with the same name if you google the images, but this one is the best I've seen--photography is one of our hobbies. Europe is full of old structures and exquisite architecture. Even its classical music is good enough to play on banjo. ;)
