That's the original flathead RB-4 Johnny had from before WWII. When he couldn't play for a while after the war he sold it for 50 bucks and always regretted it. He spent decades trying to find it. He and I drove up to Pennsylvania once to see one a friend of mine had that Johnny thought might have been his, but as soon as he looked at it he said "No, that's not it". I believe he said that he first bought it from Hoke Jenkins. Sadly, he never recorded the number.

Yes, Frank. I remember reading that same story quoted by Johnnie in a 1970 interview with Bluegrass Unlimited. Must have been heart-wrenching not to find it. Thanks for sharing!
