It's a rare variant of rheumatoid arthritis. I have a number of joint replacements and am thankful that I live at a time when the appropriate medical care is available to me. If I'd been born 30 years earlier I'd not be playing banjo or anything else, wouldn't be able to walk or hold a job, etc. Nice people say things like "oh, I'm so sorry you have this dreadful disease," and while I'd choose not to have it, all things being equal, I really can't complain.

That is truely an inspiring attitude to take. I am glad you can luxuriate in life. I have been through some tough times myself, now I want to get out there and enjoy myself.
