Mesopotamian Banjo

Posted 5/29/2011 8:50:19 AM

I found this in the Mesopotamian section of the Louvre Museum in Paris. It's between 4 and 5 thousand years old. The banjo players (there were a line of them going around the art object) all appear to be winged, thus spirits or angels. On the other hand, perhaps those are just gig bags hanging over their shoulders! Note the accompanying leopard and ostrich - dancing, perhaps?
