Does your banjo fit in the hatch?
This is a serious question. I'm planning my next car (to replace my FocusSVT) and the Mini is a front runner in the selection.

Hi Scott,
I routinely carry my SS Stewart American Princess #2, my Martin Backpacker guitar (both in gig-bags) and my Gibson UB1 (in a hard case) along with a camera and some other goodies in the "boot". They fit fine, but these instruments are not full-sized.
When I want to also carry full sized instruments like my Mastertone, my Dobro and my wife's Martin along with a small PA and assorted stands and chairs, I put both seats down in the back and the boot becomes more of a small pickup bed.
Pictures of these instruments are in my HO Webpage, if you want to get an idea of size...
Space in the MINI is pretty surprising, even for tall people and a lot of instruments. We use it as a family car, but our 2 boys don't really like "our kind of music" anyway, so when we need to go to gigs with everything we put down the back seats and fill it up.
