Has anyone had any experience with Sonny Osborne's Ugly Tuners? I had a pair of Bill Keith's tuners and didn't care for them. I have been doing the tuner songs for a long time by doing back-licks on the 3rd and 4th strings. Just curious to know if anyone had any experience with Sonny's tuners?

Started listening to Earl & Lester, and all the first generation Bluegrass greats in 1948 over XERF Radio Station in Del Rio, Texas. Couldn't get enough of it. Eventually discovered WRVA, WCKY and others in the 50's. Made my first banjo from materials I got from Bill Sullivan in 1972. It turned out better than I expected. Decided to make another one. All in all Bill helped me make 6. Have been playing since 1973, mostly by myself. In the cold north around Chicago, there are not many folks to jam with. Wish there were. I was priviledge to be able to attend all 3 of the Tennessee Banjo Institute sessions in Lebanon, Tn. in 1988-90-92. It was absolutely wonderful. I got to meet and pick with Charlie Cushman, Janet Davis, Don Stover and others. I have also been able to attend numerous Ralph Stanley festivals at his old home place in Va. They are great festivals. I am a retired police officer from the Illinois State Police and now I work for the county. Plan to retire in 2009.
