is there a name for the style of banjo playing i hear in trad irish music.? i would like to learn what it is. it's like they play around the melody without playing the melody. maybe just playing the notes in the chord one at a time? i presume using a pick.
for example of what i mean i just listened to Utube recording of luke kelly playing 'leaving of liverpool' and it is just this style i speak of.
