When I strung my banjo and nipped the high G string (fifth string), I left a tiny piece of metal protruding from the tuning head string post. No problem with a guitar or mandolin. But I was playing banjo with a capo on the second fret and soon found that the inside of my left thumb was raw from rubbing against it. Obviously, I'm doing something wrong with re-stringing that string, and I'm sure more experienced players have a solution. Thanks.
