been playing since i was 8 years old, started with Guitar, at age 16 made banjo my main instrument. i was fortunate to live in Hobbs New Mexico, where i learned bluegrass banjo under James Henley, father of Jimmy Henley who both were inducted into Roy Clark's band where they also played on HEE HAW for 21 years! it was a great way to get a start on the music i loves so much! I play both 3 finger, and Clawhammer style. still can't read music, other than shaped notes from church hymnals, sings 2nd bass, and tenor, and sometimes alto. been playing bluegrass over 40 years. definitely not a novice, but by no means advanced. best describe my playing skills as a Work in Progress!!
