Learned from John Burke in the 60's. Lived a few blocks from Jim Bollman's In Somerville in late 60's and saw the banjos he kept under his bed! Played for dances with Alan Block in New Hampshire in the 70's. Just heard Victor Furtado play and just changed my experience level to just gettin started. Making simplicity an art has been my goal, few notes, most of them close enough with the focus on rhythm. You gotta take what you got. The secret to longevity in banjo playing is to get enough different banjos to convince yourself you sound good and if you don't you need a new banjo.
