Banjomania, which I formed in 1986, had a 13 year run during which we played at large concert venues in the Orient, Europe, and North America. We also made numerous television appearances in Japan, Austria, and the United States.
During our existence, there were four 5-string players, 2 plectrum players, one tenor player and three bass/sousaphone players. Also during that time, we recorded 5 albums ~ 4 of which were released and one yet to be released. Three of the recordings can be found on Amazon (both new and used). Frankly, I'm not sure what I will do with the last (5th) album as it awaits some inspiration on my part.
Also during the zenith of our work, we were alternately sponsored by McDonalds, Martin (Guitar) Strings, Gibson Instruments, Dearing Banjos and United Instruments. These were all compensated endorsement relationships.
One of the very fun things we did was play the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon (with Jerry joining us on stage with a Plectrum banjo in his lap ~ while we played it for him as a comedy bit.
