I've been a multi-instrumentalist performing rock, jazz, jam, latin, funk, and pop music since 1990. I started on guitar, and in college, chose electric bass as my principle instrument, and majored in music production and engineering where my private instructor had me focus on transcribing Charlie Parker sax solos and Stevie Wonder moog funk grooves. All my playing since - regardless of instrument - has had nuances of these two artists. In 2010, after hearing Steve Martin's The Crow album, and frustrated that my local music shop didn't have the right set of flatwound bass strings, I impulse-bought a banjo. Admittedly, it sadly stayed mostly in its case until 2018 when I left my rock band and decided to pick it up again. This decision turned out to be one of the most rewarding music decisions I'd ever make - as I haven't been able to put it down. (My poor bass now sits lonely on the StringSwing slat-wall, waiting to get some loving.)
