I was recently told that my B&D banjo is most likely valuable only for parts. The tone rim has eight precisely drilled, 1/2" holes around the circumference of the rim and are equally spaced.
I know very little about B&D and I'm inclined to believe what I'm told about this banjo, given the fact that I know so little about them.
Can anyone tell me if these holes were drilled as a part of the manufacturing process? They don't appear to have been drilled after the fact, although I have no way of knowing that for sure.
I'm told by a man in our area who refurbished this particular instrument that based on the serial number, this banjo was manufactured in 1937.
If anyone can enlighten me about this banjo, I would truly appreciate it.
Thanks,
Rod Keith
