My father has a banjo that he purchased new for $500 back in 1932. He is the original and only owner and has always believed that it was a Gibson Florentine model. I've done some investigating on line and have discovered that while the front of the neck and head of the banjo have all the markings of the Florentine, the resonator and back of the neck and head have the markings of a Bella Voce. Has anyone ever heard of a banjo being produced by Gibson which is a combination of these two models? Everything is still original on the banjo and the serial number is 8685-7. Can anyone give me an idea of how rare this banjo is and an estimate of what it may be worth?
Thank you.
