Musically, started singing and playing lead guitar in rock cover bands in the 70s, original indie in the 80s, folk and jazz in the 90s, lullabies for my children in the 00s, and decided to pick up the banjo in 2011 and haven't looked back. In a traditional bluegrass band called the Lonesome Town Painters here in Vancouver, Canada. We've been on a steep learning curve and popularity trend and have recorded two CDs and played a bunch of BG festivals here in the Northwest. My banjo style is very Ralph Stanley. Once I figured the forward roll and the use of the index finger on the G and D strings, I was hooked. Most of my learning has been by ear and trying to find my own style...YouTube comes in handy lots too.
