5th string tone

Currently use GHS PF-150 strings.  Generally happy except for the 5th.  Even tuned to G it sounds like a metallic strike instead of a musical one.  (Like the 1st string fretted at the 5th fret).  Anyone else have a similar problem?  Suggestions welcomed!

65 going on 66. Banjo has always fascinated me. Found a broken down old "Kay" open back in an antique shop in NH. Made some repairs to it after reading some info on "How To" on this site. Works pretty well.
