Just read some previous entries and maybe I can help answer some questions. You see Maurice was my dad. He did indeed come from east coast Canada but toured the world extensivly. He played "The Authur Godfrey Show", "Lawrence Welk" and many other U.S. venues. He also spent a good deal of time in the middle east entertaining both Canadian and U.S. troops.
As for the "physical exhibition" comment I can only say to each his own, but in defence of his style I can say that it was the style of the day and he was a showman who gave his audience what they wanted and much much more. He had the fastest fingers on earth and also played a mean ragtime piano, a six string guitar, the violin (which was the first instrument he played professionaly) and just about anything else you put in his hands.
Oh ya, he also spoke english as good as any but never managed to pound french though my thick head.
In closing, I am proud and pleased to see that he is remembered 25 years after his passing and that his music lives on.
