Guys/Gals,
Picking lyrics off of recordings is not always a cake-walk, as you all know. I even used the Windows Media Player slow-down feature, and I STILL can't get it.
Grandpa Jones' recording of "Wish I'd Stayed In The Wagon Yard" (Legends Of Bluegrass 4 CD)
The verse about the deacon -
"He'd throw me out in a dry goods box,
?????????????
I'd a wished I'd a bought me a half a pint and stayed in the wagon yard.
I googled Grandpa, AND Martin Christian (the composer), to no end.
Thanks!

Retired railroad conductor. Been a hard-rocker all my life. Play 12-string guitar but love playing bass guitar. Had a "closet" love for Bluegrass since teen years. Decided to take my old 1973 Framus from storage and apply myself. Two months ago when my serious banjo streak arrived I was determined to learn Scruggs. Then I rediscovered Granpa Jones. Frailing am for me! Patrick Costello - great teacher. Still kinda rough with the basic "bum-ditty. Profession, if I could start over : Luthier.
