Where do I begin? In March of 2009 I purchased a Hohner Hb 250 banjo. I am not giving high praise to a less than stellar instrument. Grant it is not going to be a gibson mastertone equivalent, but for the $500-$600 range, it did not even fair any better than the sammick sb3/sb4 or the fender fb58 banjos. It is NOT FOR THAT REASON alone I WOULD NOT recomend the hb250. Their website has photos of a nice looking pair of banjos. the hb250, and hb250TR (archtop style). First, (as of 2003) they don't even carry the hb250TR, yet it still on their website. Second, the hb250 headstock resembles that of the recording king and gibson JD Crowe model. The one those B@$#@&*s sent me was MUCH DIFFERENT!!. The headstock DID'NT MATCH!, THE PEARLOID TUNING BUTTONS shown on the website were a BUTT-UGLY YELLOWISH-CREAM COLOR, and the word "Hohner" in cursive script on the headstock was also different. It's an absolute F#%^*@! miracle it still had a flathead style tone ring. When I recieved my order, The B@$#@&* sales rep simply told me that crap about specs on instruments tend to change on items from year to year. Even though that may be true, It DOES NOT excuse the fact that they are lying and misleading people by NOT HAVING CURRENT PHOTOS posted on their website. They also claim to have a "lifetime warranty," But based on the other lies perpetrated on the website, I'm not holding my breath. My advice is (other than the obvious) is to be AUFULLY DAMN SURE BEFORE YOU ORDER, because WHAT YOU SEE IS SURE AS HELL NOT WHAT YOU GET!!!
